All Good Things
Week 16, Spring Break
That’s right, we’ve come to the end. The last week of ACC classes. We’re wrapping up the year, and you’re wrapping up your final research projects by sharing some of what you learned.
Your Presentation
As promised, here are the specs for your final assignment. You will be presenting a short Google Slides presentation. Here’s what the seven individual slides of your slide deck should include:
A title page with the title of the novel you read, the author of the novel, and your name.
A “logline” for your novel where you give the premise of the story in one sentence. Try this sentence construction:
[name of the main character/s] + [does something/tries to do something/CAUSE] + in order to [the character’s purpose/motivation] and ends up [EFFECT/the results of their actions].
Your research question, which should include both the area of research and the novel.
The answer to your research question. This will probably include your thesis, as well as bullet points to help you elaborate on your findings.
Your favorite quote from the novel. The slide just needs the quote, but please explain the context and importance of the quote in your presentation. Why did this line resonate with you?
How did you like the novel? Give it a Goodreads-style star rating: how many stars would you give it out of five? Why? Be prepared to justify your rating.
Even if you didn’t like the novel, we all read classic works, so somebody must have liked them. What kind of reader would you recommend the novel to? Try this sentence construction:
“If you like [list three song/movie/TV show/aesthetic/other pop culture references], then you might like this novel.”
Byyyyeee!!
It has been a pleasure and a privilege to see you all grow as writers and critical thinkers. Have a good summer, and I’ll see you next Fall when we will be going on all kinds of adventures in Brit Lit 1.
I can promise you dragons.
And pilgrimages.
And SHAKESPEARE.
